A Love Letter to Hare Polish

The back log of pictures has gotten too scary, so I'm going to just going to post what I wore today and see how things go from there, k?

(BTW, if all you want is pictures, you're welcome to follow me on Instagram or Twitter; I'm "poisontaster" on both)

I've really fallen hard into indie polishes lately. So many really unique, gorgeous polishes to play with! Right now, I'm really in love with Hare Polish (link goes to Llarowe). This is A Positive:

A Positive is a juicy, squishy red jelly with silver holographic hexes in various sizes. I did my best, but seriously, these pictures? Do not do it justice!

In some lights, A Positive is more a magenta-red; in other lights, it's definitely a more bloody red. Either way, the color is intense. The hexes give it this wonderful depth, like the polish just goes on forever.

A lot of polishes that are this glitter heavy are difficult to get good, even flow. I didn't have that problem at all with A Positive; the jelly base flowed with beautiful liquidity but still carried a lot of glitter. I didn't have to dab or finesse the glitter at all.

This is three coats, but it was actually fully opaque with two...which was a surprise, considering how sheer it was in the first coat. I'm sure it's because the heavy concentration of glitter helps hide the nail line. I just put the third coat on to get slightly deeper intensity of color.

For such a glitter rich polish, it's SUPER thin; I didn't have any raised ridge line of polish, and all of the glitter lay amazingly flat. I didn't even have to use Seche Vite to smooth it out, I used the thinner NYC In a NY Minute fast dry top coat.

The polish was a little top-coat hungry; after about an hour or so, I noticed that it was a little less smooth, but it was a negligible amount.

A Positive is just a flat out gorgeous polish; one of those ones where you find yourself staring at your hands all the time. It's intensely colored, the glitter gives it bling factor, and it's visually interesting from close up and from far away.

Breakdown: I have 5 Hare Polishes so far (with another 4 on the way, eep!). Of those 5, I've tried four of them:

This is Electric Flame. Neon coral crelly with green/purple flakies. A little thick, but still easy to work with and beautiful. I could NOT get this one to photograph true; it's so much more neon and coral pink than it looks here.

Pegasus. Lavender crelly with silver hexes. This was the only problematic one; the base just didn't flow well and the glitter kept jamming up. I tried it alone & with Zoya Julie as underpants and it was still just...less than satisfying, though it LOOKED great.

Oceans of Alloys, my favorite. Turquoise jelly with gold and bronze hexes and squares. Looks like some ancient mosaic floor. I couldn't bear to take this one off until a giant hunk peeled off my nails.

I'm waiting for Why So Igneous?, Medusa Luminosa, Amethystos, and Bury the Hatchetfish. I've got at least a half dozen more on my wish list. Hare Polish retails for around $11 each.

Those look gorgeous. I'm looking forward to your comments on Bury the Hatchetfish -- I almost bought that one, but there's a comment that the formula was problematic.

I only read the one review, so if it's not universally mentioned, I may go ahead and grab it myself. Brown is good for me.

OMG, Electric Flaaaaaame. *paw weakly at screen*

Also, thank you for pointing out the Llarowe link! I looked up Hare Polish on etsy and I thought I had just missed my chance to try her product, didn't even think of trying a centralized retailer like Llarowe.
